“The belief that ‘Service Above Self’ and ‘Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life’ powers Rotary International to seek world Peace Through Service. Our four major water projects for the Maasai community were the result of community need assessments by the Massai community and coordinated through MERC. Those projects represent about a $500,000 investment and currently benefit approximately 50,000 people.  Water is Life and without water to drink, nothing else matters.”

Craig Wilson, Rotarian and former MERC Board member

Together MERC and Rotary have completed three large scale water projects in Maasailand, and are nearing completion of a fourth

Rotary works in Maasailand through partnership with Kenyan Rotary clubs, as there are currently none in Maasailand. In 2021, we hope to establish a club in the Mara region of Narok district to enable closer oversight of projects, and in the meantime we are grateful to the Kenyan clubs that travel long distances to work on projects in Maasailand.
